Jon’s Journey Through Switzerland?

Well after a pretty late start I finally left Zürich, and traveled to the opposite end of the country to the southern tip of Switzerland – to the tiny town of Zermatt. It’s a really cool little Alpine village. It’s a quite beautiful, and very mountainy, foresty, … Alpine themed town, without much else going for it. It was a pretty lengthy train ride so I didn’t have much time to do anything except stroll the main shopping street, which is really most of the town. That’s about it. The train ride through Switzerland was quite beautiful however! I finally do feel like the weather is finally beginning to cool down. It’s actually a bit chilly here tonight, the first cold night I’ve experienced.

So it will be time for another German city with a goofy name! Today’s winner is: Ludwigslust, which translates to Ludwig’s Desire/Pleasure. It began as a small hunting lodge, by Prince Christian Ludwig II, Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, and he loved the area so much be began a town there. The hunting lodge is now the site of a large baroque palace.

Image time here!

Note: Many of the photos on the train will have glare/window reflection in them, which is a bit annoying, but there was nothing I could do. Also, very annoyingly, Imgur uploads all the images completely out of order, so they might not line up perfectly, but I try and rearrange them as best I remember.

to Zerm
