Stepping Away From Stuttgart

It was a short couple days, but we left Stuttgart for the big urban city of Frankfurt am Main, a major metropolis of European commerce and banking. The ‘Main’ (pronounced Mine) is the name of the river the city sits on. Of course there was a train delay. This time in the station of Mannheim, it sounded like someone had fallen onto the track. At some point a luggage porter, followed by multiple Polizei (police), boarded the train and walked down the aisle. Of Germany’s only 20 buildings classified as sky scrapers, Frankfurt contains 19 of them.

Like other days we didn’t do much aside from visiting the historic Eschenheimer Turm, an old medieval tower right in the middle of a street section surrounded by other massive modern glass towers, followed by a visit to the architecturally lovely Frankfurt Opera House.

Next was a return (for me) to the top of the 45-story Main Tower, which has a great viewing platform on top, giving amazing views of the city below.

Following that there was a long, long walk through multiple and vast Frankfurt Christmas Markets, another contender for someof the best and most decorated stalls of all the ones we’ve seen. Here are the pictures!
