Dashing Through the Snow, In A One Engine Open Train

Well it was a short time in Graz, and after several really annoying and long delays, we made it to to the salty city of Salzburg. The area has been inhabited in many forms for many thousands of years, but is most famous as the birthplace and hometown of famed composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. And second most famous, for it’s name sake! The numerous nearby salt mines in the region.

Travelling there was one of the most scenic and beautiful sights we had ever seen. Graz was not snowy. But the further we got out of town, the more and more snowy covered the land got, and the prettier it got. Our trip took us deep along through the valleys of the Alps. We were surrounded by trees covered in snow, great mountainscapes, and cozy scenic homes, chalets and villages. And the further we got into the Alps, the more and harder it snowed!

Almost immediately after getting to our hotel, we were getting visited with a raucous protest supporting workers rights and against big businesses. They slowly patrolled through the streets of Salzburg with a massive police presence guiding and following along.

After getting away, we made it to the lovely Cathedral Square Christmas Market, along with another nearby, quite near where an iconic scene from the movie “The Sound of Music” was filmed. No museums or anything like that. Yet.

As always, here are the pictures!
