Nuremberg, Chapter 4

(City Date: 11/25/2023) My 4th time in Nuremberg, and it never gets old. Sadly however, still, due to high river levels we were unable to dock in or Near Nuremberg (The Danube river does not flow through it), however or ship now finally did make it to Regensburg. Which meant a 90 minute busride from Regensburg into Nuremberg.

The first thing we noticed, and noticed very quickly. Snow! Snow everywhere. The whole land of Bavaria around us was blanketed in snow!

The tour we went on made sure our first stop as to visit the infamous Nazi Party Rally Grounds (in true Christmas Fashion of course). Next the bus took us to view the courthouse of the also famous Nuremberg trials. Finally, our bus took us to the also famous castle of Nuremberg, called the Kaiserburg, where we went to the also famous outlook balcony which gives a great view of the city. After that we took a visit to the also famous city center of Nuremberg, but sadly the main market was not yet opened. We then had lunch at a former hospital next to the town square. (Mmmmm, Nuremberg sausage and sauerkraut!) This was followed up with a nice walk around the old city center.

Finally at the end of the day we did what makes sense for any visit to Nürnberg during the Christmas season, so of course we visited the home of the old medieval city executioner. He lived in a bridge-home that was built over Nuremberg’s Pegnitz river. A fitting tribute to this joyous season.

At the rally grounds with the tour group!
The old city wall.
The court house. The main courtroom 600 was the room behind the four large windoes towards the center-right of the image.
Nuremberg Castle.
Overlooking Nuremberg.
The main town square, with the closed market.
The Nuremberg Children’s Market.
The bridge-home in which the executioner lived.
On the way back to the ship for our last night aboard!
