Well, finallllyyyyy left Munich today after 10 days/11 nights and it makes me sad – It went by soooo fast! It’s far longer than any other stay I’ve ever done, which I think my previous maximum was 6 or maybe 7 days.
But since Munich is so cool I decided to add 7 more days today!
…
Just kidding. Sadly.
I did pad it with a bunch of days, because I was planning on taking a bunch of day trips – Lindau, Landsberg… etc.
But really though Munich is so cool I just did not want to leave. So I am back now in the town of Berchtesgaden – the famous Nazi town, mainly only known because of Band of Brothers. I tried to book my same hotel from last time, but it was full, and when I got here I noticed it was heavily under renovating/reconstruction.
At least this time the train station is functioning and I could come straight here from Munich. Last time the train station was being redone and I had to take a train from Munich to Salzburg, then take a bus to Berch, then to get back out, take a bus again to Salzburg so I could continue on. I am quite optimistic this time – last time my visit here was utterly ruined by very dense fog and cloud covers for weeks. And it left me really bitter that such amazing views were rendered into complete foggy whiteness. Today was quite hot and sunny so I hope it keeps up! But we shall see, overall though the weather this trip has been much warmer and much sunnier.
And now it’s time for another round of German city with a goofy name! Today’s winner is: Bayerisch Gmain. (By-erish Guhmine) I would guess it’s Bavarian for: “Bavarian Community” … Bayerisch = Bavarian, and Gemeinde is the German word for Community. So I figure Gmain = Gemeinde. Pronounced the same way – except for the de at the end.
Unfortunately there are only two images HERE, the internet at this hotel is really bad. I’ll try uploading more again tomorrow.
