One last go at Oktoberfest for something I haven’t yet done some how – Oide Wiesn (oy-duh veezin/ Old Wiesn. Wiesn being the common German word for Oktoberfest. Oide Wiesn is another small section fenced off on the Oktoberfest grounds behind a small ticket office, and what this is, is an old fashioned Oktoberfest. It’s a section of the grounds dedicated to the Oktoberfest of the early 1900’s. It has an old fashioned tent, with some old timey attractions inside, such as fun and goofy bikes that hearken back to the times of yesteryear! …To make it sound Disneyesque. There’s old fashioned games, street organs, old fashioned rides, and vehicles on display. It’s pretty cool. People looking for a more relaxed and family experience head here. The small entrance fee to get in helps keep out some of the riff raff, and more obnoxious guests of the event. I had seen it several times over and over walking by the gate, but never really thought about going in to see what it was until my tour guide a couple days ago mentioned its worth checking out.
So I spent some time in there going around and of course getting some great icecream. Then spent some time back out in the main fair grounds for one last hurrah, doing some of the attractions, mainly the fun house walkthroughs. I spent much of the first part of the day organizing and cleaning up after so long in Munich. That’s about it. What was quite surprising is I was here until closing time at 10:30, and the park was still nearly just as completely full as it is during the day at full capacity. Still sooooo many people on rides, and especially lined up at all the food stands. Oktoberfest 2018: September 22 – October 7 And it ends in only 2 days!
