Another mostly slow walking day for relaxing and seeing some of the stranger things Munich has to offer. Unfortunately no shopping because it’s Sunday, and Germany doesn’t believe in customer service! I say that tongue in cheek… more or less. Anyways, I mostly just walked around like yesterday then headed back to the Munich Residenz, a palace for Bavarian emperors for hundreds of years, this time going to the Schatzkammer- Treasure Chamber. A collection of priceless royal artifacts, such as jewel encrusted gold crowns, necklaces, swords, chalices, religious relics, fancy dining equipment… and more. Spent more time walking around just walking to places in Munich I hadn’t gone before, which really isn’t that many places actually.
After that I went to an interesting place the “Eisbachwelle” (Ice Creek Wave) Or it could just be a name with no real translation. It’s a lengthy man-made canal, that, I don’t know if intentional or not, creates a permanent wave next to a bridge where surfers are often found. It’s pretty cool I’ll try and upload a video. But I got several pictures anyways. There were maybe a dozen people each with wetsuits and a board, and took turns 1 at a time surfing the way until the wiped out, at which point the next person would jump right in.
A while ago I found something interested that happened at the Bürgerbräukellar (the place where Hitler gave speeches) from “yesterday’s” post – something that would have radically changed the 20th century’s history, a perfectly executed, but ill timed assassination attempt on Hitler that he avoided by sheer luck – story in images gallery. So I made my way to the location of the beer hall which is now just a courtyard for a Hilton Hotel, with a parking garage underneath. with a few weird musical instrument art sculptures. Then made my way back across the city for my hotel.
