A Shopping Day?

Well, I didn’t do much today, I had plans, but since closing your stores and museums is Germany’s national sport, I spent they day pretty much just walking around shops, and going in shops. It was mostly museums that were closed, but I didn’t actually have anything big planned, I really just wanted to go around town, and see everything again. Nuremberg is definitely one of the most fun and interesting cities to just walk around and look at things. Christmas shops, medieval shops, flea markets, mini-Oktoberfest tents around old town, the theme and atmosphere of the town is just incredible. It’s a town where you wanna buy everything, even if you don’t need it.

One of the neat areas I didn’t even know about last time is a small shopping area called the Handwerkhof. It’s a little courtyard ringed by buildings, with each one having an artistic specialist. One of the shops has a pewter/tin smith. Another is a woodcarving shop. Another is a glass maker, and another a potter, with a few other shops and restaurants mixed in.

A few other things I had planned:

  1.  Albrecht Dürer’s house – closed on Monday
  2. Underground Art Bunker, where art was hidden during the war – closed Monday
  3.  Underground wine & beer cellars – didn’t go, but will try again Tuesday
  4.  Henkerhaus – home that Nuremberg’s old executioner lived in, closed every day that ends in day. (actually it’s only opened on Sat+Sun.
  5. Lots of stores – closed on Monday. Lotta shops also remain closed for Mondays.

I didn’t even take that many pictures, so here they are: Link to images!
