Well Zürich is kinda sorta an alright town. Well, actually it’s pretty cool, especially now that I had time to do stuff that wasn’t churches. Went first to the Zürich Museum of Swiss History, documenting the city from it’s early days in the 1200’s and before, to famous people who lived and came to Switzerland for various reasons. It exhibits many Roman and Celtic items, and has many pre-history tools and such. There was a cool room with a giant carved stone granite block. It was maybe 12’x8′ and the top of it was cut by a saw that went back and forth over it like a 3D printer machine carved to show mountains and valleys in Switzerland. There were then little tablets with a screen and an Augmented Reality app that would overlay the big gray stone block with locations of cities, rivers and mountains when you look at it from any angle.

Next it was off the FIFA Museum – yep, a big museum full of soccery things. It was actually pretty cool, despite it being more expensive to buy a ticket here than buy a mansion in Malibu. There was a long timeline showing the history of FIFA, and all kinds trophies, relics, and memorabilia, along with some fun soccer games at the end. A little ways in you walk into a mini theater and it plays lots of clips of action shots from past World Cups. Then it switches to famous penalties and cheap shots and foul play and cards flying, then changes to famous game winning shots and the reactions afterwards. All the clips it plays are from World Cups throughout the decades. The gift shop had some cool stuff, such as jerseys signed by Ronaldo, Messi, Suárez (the biter) and others.

After that it was just a lot of walking back around town and saw lots of the prettier parts of town and the lake the city is on.

Turicum is also the old Roman name for Zürich.
