Happy Halloween

Yay! Though it makes me sad my trip is rapidly coming to an end. I’ve had to cut a few cities, Kassel, Wernigerode, Flensburg, and Schwerin.

The hotel I am staying at is for the amuseument park Heide Park. Another large fun awesome theme park. Actually unknownst to me while booking the pirate room, is the park does indeed have a pirate themed land. Yargh! With a coaster dropping you into the mouth of the dreaded Kracken! It also had a really long bobsled run, a trackless chain of carts racing down a tube track riding the walls on twists and turns.

There is also a cool Transylvania land, wild west land, Aztec/Mexico land, and a “land of the forgotten”. There was also an eerie abandoned Alpine land with overgrown plants all over, and buildings fading and looking very old and worn. The entrance area was all boarded up but it was still easy to see over. There was a cool medieval faire, and a large building on the side of the main central lake that looks like the US Capitol building, inside is an all you can eat pizza and pasta bar, though the pizza really wasn’t that good. The pasta was quite good though. The park also boasts the world’s tallest wooden roller coaster Colossos, and is Guiness certified as the wooden coaster with the steepest drop in the world. It was super fun.

Though the worst part wasn’t what it didn’t have, it was what it did have. Lines. Unlike my previous parks, Europa Park, and Phantasialand, here at Heide Park, on a Saturday and major holiday, it had major lines and really, even some of the big rides just were not worth the wait.

As darkness fell, costumed entertainers walked the park scaring guests. There was also a nice fireworks display towards the end.

It was a ghoulishly good time. I’ll just end it there and see myself out.
