Now this is a story about how I got around today and I’d like to use this post to tell you how I got to the town of Stuttgart.
In Berchtesgaden up and out I got to the train station where I spend most of my days rushin’ and runnin’ ready to board the bus when the Help Desk guy who was no good started giving bad advice
I finally made it to Salzburg and this other Help Desk guy said “you’re catching this train to the city of Munich.”
I rushed and hurried and ran to the train but I got there too late and saw the train pulling away. I waited and waited till the train came again.
Ok I’m done.
Just to reiterate I decided to take an earlier bus than I originally planned to get back to Salzburg as it is the main station of the area and has all the major connections, but I stopped at the help desk to find the next train to Munich as the train schedule and the guy was quite helpful, but told me I had to run to the track because the train was already there. The main connections from Salzburg to Munich were canceled and an alternate train route was made with a change over in a small nearby town, so I ran to the track but as I got there the train was already on its way going around the corner. Also there was another round of refugees being gathered up by police as they got off trains. I had to end up waiting 2 hours in Salzburg for the next alternate train to the town of Freilassing, then switch there for a train to Munich, the main station in southern Germany. C’est la travel. Quite fortunately there was a train on its way to Saarbrucken with a stop in Suttgart that was already there and leaving in only 20 minutes. Finally made it about 8pm and got into a nice hotel. About 225 miles travelled. I saw a huge carnival near the tracks very close, if not in Stuttgart so I will look into that.
I was hoping to be able to visit Landsberg am Lech, which is a little ways west of Munich, which is famous for Landsberg Prison where Hitler was imprisoned, and also having the remains of the Landsberg Concentration Camp which was liberated by the Allies and depicted in the tv series ‘Band of Brothers’ but it was a major pain and to get to. It’s a small city and there are no connecting trains fom major cities, it takes a minimum of 4 changeovers to get to.
