Tchüss sadly meaning bye. My final day for visiting Berlin has come. A short walk to the Berlin Dungeon was quite exciting if a bit overwhelming. It is a heavily themed and decorated haunted house style walk-through with scenes and stories with cast interaction that loosely details Berlins history, from the plague, to the inquisition to the French Revolution, ended with a visit through psychotic maniac Carl Großmanns shop of human-wurst (a real thing, and Wurst meaning sausage which was sold in markets). I could only take the German tour as the English was much much later. I didn’t get to do everything I wanted such as going up the huge tower which was very expensive, or going in the Reichstag dome even after getting a reservation for it, (those 2 had massive waitlines where you had to have ‘reservations’ and come back hours or the next day later at a specific time) or checking out the video game museum, I could come with a lot more, there’s just so much and I easily could have spent several more days, but it is time to move on. I may try again as I swing back around from the north!
Only a 2 hour train ride south from Berlin’s massive 5 floor Hauptbahnhof (Main train station) is the city of Dresden. After about 5 minutes I can already see why it is nicknamed Florence on the Elbe (The Elbe is the river). Luckily at this time of year there is a small Oktoberfest themed market/fair with lots of shops and stalls and rides for young children that I happened to pass through on my way to the hostel. I shall hopefully return tomorrow!
